Dark walnut "A-Frame" armchair with tapered legs and brass capped feet by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, USA, c.1960s. The seat cushion has been reupholstered with a sage green mohair - a perfect touch of elegance and sophistication. The chair's woven cane backrest with dual brass rod supports enhances the masterful handmade quality to the chair. Retains Dunbar brass label. Edward Wormley was a longtime director of design for the Dunbar furniture company and was one of the leading forces in bringing modern design into American homes in the mid-20th century. In the mid-1940s, Wormley guided Dunbar to devote their total production focus to modern furniture. His designs were included in the MoMA "Good Design" exhibitions of the 1950s besides Harry Bertoia, George Nelson, Charles & Ray Eames, among others. Dimensions 24.5” width x 26” depth x 32.5” height; 18.25" seat height, 25.75" arm height. Condition Excellent restored condition with new mohair upholstery and cane back rest.
