The Medea armchair by Vittorio Nobili, produced by Fratelli Tagliabue in 1955-56, is one of the pinnacles of postwar organic Italian design. Crafted from a single shell of steam-bent rosewood plywood, it features a sculptural, enveloping form reminiscent of a blooming flower. The distinctive oval hole in the seat is not only aesthetically pleasing but also visually and structurally lightens the piece.
