Scandinavian Modern Beech And Woven Rope Armchair By Axel Larsson For Bodafors, 1930s

Chairish

$1,042

Elegant Swedish Modern armchair designed by Axel Larsson and produced by Bodafors in Sweden during the 1930s. The chair reflects the refined Scandinavian interpretation of early modernism, combining functional design with traditional craftsmanship. The frame is crafted from solid beech with beautifully curved armrests that give the chair a light and sculptural appearance. The seat and backrest are handwoven with rope cord in a geometric pattern, providing both visual texture and comfortable support. Axel Larsson was one of the leading Swedish designers of the early modernist period, and his work for Bodafors helped define Scandinavian furniture design during the 1930s. This chair illustrates his ability to merge Bauhaus-inspired simplicity with warm natural materials. The chair remains in very good vintage condition. The beech frame shows minor age-related wear and patina consistent with its age, while the woven rope seat and backrest are well preserved and structurally sound. A beautiful and characterful example of early Swedish modern design that works equally well in both classic and contemporary interiors. This piece is designed in the style of the selected designer and/or manufacturer
