Sculpted Armchair Attributed To Circle Of Andrea Brustolon, Italy, 17th-18th Century

Chairish

$10,751

Magnificent armchair in finely carved wood, decorated with extraordinary sculptural motifs depicting musical Moors that serve as support for the armrests. The legs are joined by an elegant carved crosspiece, a feature that lends structural solidity and great ornamental richness. The seat and backrest are upholstered in velvet, which enhances the imposing wooden structure and accentuates its theatrical character. Dating to the late 17th or early 18th century, the piece is distinguished by the quality of the carving and the strong decorative presence, typical of the Venetian Baroque tradition and its popularity in the subsequent period. Good overall condition, with minor defects and normal signs of aging consistent with its period.
