Rustic Pine Beam Bench Pine And Corten Steel Base By Alabama Sawyer 4'

1st Dibs

$2,000

Our beam bench utilizes salvaged local pine logs for a rustic bench for indoors or outdoors. Narrow and backless, the simple lines express the natural texture of the end grain of each species. Perfect for a contemporary entertainment table under the tv in the den or at the foot of the bed in an industrial primary bedroom. The 15" x 15" beam is milled and finished to sit on a Corten steel base that is mortised into the bottom of the beam. The beam bench brings primitive beauty at a variety of lengths. Cracks, knots and variation is part of the beauty of these pieces. The wood will continue to move and the finish to age over time. Dense, heavy pine is sanded smooth enough to retain character, but to avoid splinters. We add a low sheen, exterior-grade urethane for extra protection and seal. Covered outdoor patio or deck is preferable to complete exposure to the elements. Wood will age outside. Corten steel is rusted. Length can be customized up to 12' long.Note on Materials: Corten steel plate base and pine is the standard version. Corten is a quick-rusting steel. These pieces are HEAVY. Inquire about LTL shipping quote from Alabama Sawyer if this is an option for you, ideally when using a receiver. Cracks are part of the rustic beauty of these pieces. If the finish cracks or chips, you may see some raw pine underneath. You may notice differences from piece to piece or to images on the website or between samples received (if requested.) There is no stain on the clear/natural, so the color may vary. This is a quality of natural wood. The knots and fine cracks that you may see will not cause structural deficiencies as they are an organic aspect of the wood. We view these elements not as flaws, but as reminders of the tree from which each piece is born. Natural materials will age over time and with exposure to the elements—the more exposure, the quicker they will age. Expansion and contraction due to temperature variability may occur. They will age with integrity when cared for appropriately.
