A breakfronted bookcase, the top section veneered in burr yew wood and the lower section veneered in amboyna (once referred to as East India Yew). The cornice is built of solid yew. The four glazed doors are bisected by burr yew veneered mullions. The interior contains adjustable shelves in front of a silk-lined back. The lower doors are applied with half-round moldings which are also found on the sides. Gorgeous, figured timber and lovely color. Probably adapted. Purchased from Malcolm Franklin in 1989. English, circa 1830 and possibly later.
