A 19th Century French Specimen Wood Centre Table. Of circular form, this table has a beautiful parquetry top banded with an ormolu edge mount. The table top is composed of various specimen woods set in to a star pattern with a flower head in the centre. The woods are arranged light against dark with additional implied texture and visual contrast. The frieze of the table continues the geometric decorative theme with a repeating motif. In the frieze are two disguised drawers. There are additional ormolu mounts to the top of each leg and the toes are gilt metal.
