The radial pattern contrasts the smooth, untouched surface, creating a sense of balance and harmony. The half-circle tiles, fixed within the wood frame, mirror the containment of a natural sand garden, bringing a peaceful, meditative presence to any space.Cade Cahalan is a Los Angeles based furniture designer and craftsman whose work explores the interaction between wood and clay. His debut collection Xylolith (from xylo meaning 'wood' and lithos meaning 'stone') challenges these two seemingly opposing materials to reinterpret ceramic tiling and traditional joinery. All pieces are handmade by Cade in one-off batches and can be custom ordered.
