Mid 19th Century Conant Bros. Maple Comb Back Chair

Chairish

$1,250

This maple comb-back chair, marked with a “CB” inside a circle, was likely made in Massachusetts in the 1850's or 1860's. Crafted by Conant Brothers and Company, an early forerunner of the Conant Ball Company, it’s a Windsor style piece with a thick, solid maple seat. The “CB” stamp was probably used by the Conant Brothers in the late 1800s before the company became Conant Ball and switched to paper labels. Combined with its sturdy seat design, the mark points to it being one of the company’s earlier works.
