1900s French Art Nouveau Light Fixture With Three Daum Shades

Chairish

$2,226

Offering a beautifully proportioned French Art Nouveau (or perhaps more accurately, “transitional”) chandelier with three DAUM/NANCY shades. Daum shades are particularly rare, of course, and these three are glorious examples of what the French could do “back then” in producing art glass, glass which delights and inspires with its rich, vibrant colors.   Art Nouveau, that organically-inspired late 1800s European design, has become a true rarity In this instance, the French fixture was created around 1910 or so, made of solid brass and given a largely-intact gilt finish.  The (organic) design is glorious and the various embellishments beautiful in that certain “French way.”  The open-work canopy is a thing of beauty in itself as you have doubtless noticed. The shades, hand-blown by the artists at Nancy’s Daum glassworks, anywhere from 1880 to 1900, are signed and in perfect condition, each hosting several deep, rich colors which coordinate nicely with the gold color of the antique fixture. Rewired and fitted with American candelabra sockets, each capable of hosting a 60 watt bulb for a total of 180 watts of light.   GREAT over a dining table or in a library, or any other place you want some "jewelry for the home." Measurements: about 21 long, 18 in diameter
