An exceptional example of French Art Deco lighting, this chandelier signed by Muller Frères features a central arrangement of five molded frosted art glass shades with architecturally stylized geometric motifs. The shades are stepped in elevation and are set and radiate symmetrically in a nickeled bronze mount. Four curved arms extend upward from the structure, each terminating in a tulip-form frosted matching glass shade. All glass elements are signed Muller Frères Luneville. The sculptural fixture, which almost looks like a fountain for the ceiling is supported by a unique and streamlined decorative lightning bolt style suspension in nickeled bronze, underscoring the strong vertical emphasis and symmetry typical of the period. Muller Frères, renowned for their experimentation with form and texture, demonstrate both technical refinement and sculptural sensibility in this work, and embodying the refined innovation of French Art Deco lighting with the era’s distinctive blend of geometry, grace and balance. 19.25" diameter square to 25" diameter when measured on the diagonal
