Ango offers a special re-edition of the installation piece EIGHT THOUSAND MILES OF HOME, exhibited as part of the “Dead or Alive” show in 2010 at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York City.“The special light installation piece EIGHT THOUSAND MILES OF HOME is one of the peaks in Ango’s use of the silk cocoon as a lighting diffuser and consists of around twelve thousand silk cocoons assembled on a hand soldered wire matrix. Each cocoon built by a silkworm as home contains two thirds of a mile of filament, so that the total displayed in the installation totals eight thousand miles. The form of the piece represents one half of a figure of eight, which is the movement that the silkworm takes three hundred thousand times in order to create each cocoon.”Photograph: Ed WatkinsEIGHT THOUSAND MILES OF HOME Size: W 2300 mm (90 in) x W 650 mm (25 in) x H 570mm (22 in)Light Source: E26 / E27 LED filament light source 6 to 10 watts in warm white colouring x 6. Please note that due to the handmade nature of our products, slight variations in size may occur compared to the tear sheet.
