A dramatic 19th century Italian console table with an exquisite rococo giltwood base supporting its original, thick slab of Bardiglio marble. The monochromatic gray stone features delicate wisps of veining throughout, carved with square corners at the back and notched, rounded corners at the front to match the technical sophistication of the frame below. Across the apron are scrolling, acanthus designs in low-relief giltwood over the ivory-painted background anchored at the center by a scallop shell. The narrative imagery continues with Satyr masks guarding the corners of the apron which transition into Louis XVI style legs of finely carved Neoclassical themes, also blending parcel gilt and painted fluting. This masterpiece of furniture will astound in any interior. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age.
