The Kintsugi Skull from Seletti applies the kintsugi technique, the Japanese practice of mending broken pottery with gold, to a porcelain skull form. Designed by Marcantonio, the surface is divided into sections, joined by gold seams; some panels are left in plain white porcelain, while others are decorated with botanical and landscape illustrations. The juxtaposition of a traditionally somber object with delicate floral imagery and gold detailing gives the piece a contradictory character that holds attention.
