Rather rare writing desk designed by Jack Cartwright for Founders furniture (a subsidiary of Thomasville furniture. Desk features the original Micarta top with dovetailed drawer construction. Micarta is a hard, smooth, durable composite material made of a base material suspended in epoxy resin. Some sellers have mistakenly called this top “Slate” as it does look a bit like slate. The color of the Micarta is a very dark, nearly black, speckled gray.
