This is an outstanding example of a late 19th century late Louis XVI-style small writing table. Additionally, the table, with the drop leaves up, could serve as a sofa table. The beautifully figured mahogany veneer is detailed in fine brass string inlay with a central inlaid brass medallion. The table's fluted legs retain their original brass ring detailing, with the stretchers joined by a rectangular brass highlighted union. The table's refined level of workmanship makes this little piece a true eye-catcher. There is some restoration to the side marquetry where there was lifting to the veneer; there is toning to the brass inlay. Otherwise, the table is in very good stable condition and it retains its original surface.
