A provincial Liège Baroque galbée chest of drawers from the late 18th century. Régence/Louis XV style. Crafted from solid oak, moulded and subtly carved. An oak body, curved on three sides and panelled at the sides, featuring 2 large and 2 smaller drawers beneath a moulded top panel of corresponding shape. Rounded ornamental/floral carved corner pilasters and a similarly curved frame terminate in gently curved feet. All-round moulded, curved drawer fronts with frame-like panels and flat-carved floral cartouches at the outer ends. Each drawer body is solidly crafted from oak with dovetail joints. The back panel is also made of oak in a traditional frame-and-panelling construction. Dimensions Height: 89 cm / 35.04 in. Width: 134 cm / 52.76 in. Depth: 63 cm / 24.80 in. Internal dimensions of the drawers: 16 x 51.5 x 51 cm and 16 x 110.5 x 51 cm  /  6.30 in x 20.28 in x 20.08 in. and 6.30 in x 43.50 in x 20.08 in. In good, ready-to-use condition with slight age-related signs of wear and a few visible repairs. The original darker finish was removed in the past and the Rococo brass fittings have been replaced. The keys on the smaller drawers do not lock and are for opening purposes only.
