A fine antique well proportioned flame mahogany george iv wellington chest, in the manner of gillows, circa 1830 in date. With fabulous original colour, original handles, ash and cedar lined drawers and key for the locking bar. It has has seven drawers with a secret pilaster side-locking mechanism that was perfected by gillows and is complete with the working lock and original key. The chest stands on a plinth base and has seven drawers that are very spacious and provide loads of storage. It is a beautiful example of simplicity and practicality. The botanical name for the mahogany this item is made of is swietenia macrophylla and this type of mahogany is not subject to cites regulation.
