18th century inlaid walnut bombe commode circa 1790. Fine quality Swedish rococo revival commode with the typical bombe shape of bulging out in the middle and curving in at the base. Shaped walnut top surface with patches to replace knots with a strung and cross banded border and moulded edge. Below are 3 deep drawers with the same stringing and cross banding, fitted with ornate ormolu handles and escutcheons, complete with working locks and key. Further decorated with gilded slips in-between each drawer and decorative mount to the frieze. Standing on tapered legs. Rich original colour. Expected minor surface marks and fading in line with use and age. Original back boards. Superb example of this type of swedish chest.
