Italian Brutalist Chest By Santambrogio & De Berti, 1960s

Chairish

$3,904

This striking 1960s Italian Modernist chest is a quintessential example of the collaboration between designers Santambrogio & De Berti. Crafted from rich, dark-grained wood, the piece serves as a sophisticated marriage of Mid-Century elegance and bold Brutalist textures. The focal point of the design is a continuous, hand-chased brass frieze that wraps around the base, featuring an intricate array of abstract and geometric relief patterns. The entire structure is elevated by four elegantly turned wooden feet, which lend a sense of lightness to an otherwise substantial and sculptural piece. Representing the high-end craftsmanship of mid-century Milanese design, this chest functions both as a spacious storage solution and a commanding work of decorative art. The chest is in very good vintage condition except one water stain which is only visible in a certain light. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
