A Japanese Meiji period Isho Dansu clothing chest from the 19th century, with six drawers, iron hardware and professionally refreshed brown lacquer. Created in Japan during the Meiji period in the 19th century, this Isho Dansu clothing chest features a rectangular top with iron braces in the corners, sitting above a perfectly organized façade typical of the Japanese mastery at cabinetry. This façade showcases three large drawers followed by a medium one and two smaller ones placed in the lower section. The drawers are all fitted with elaborate iron hardware made of medallions and bail handles. The sides are plain and the back is, of course, simply planked and unfinished. The chest has been newly and professionally relacquered in a brown color complimenting the wood grain beautifully.
