Wonderful late 18th century Director commode in oak. This commode is of excellent scale. the top is made from three planks, and follows down to raised paneled sides for added design interest from any point of reference. In the front of the case, there are three drawers, all carved paneled and beaded, with central carved medallions, embellished with hand cast key escutcheons. The drawers are flanked by stop fluted columns on either side. The apron is hand carved decorated as well, and the piece is supported on hand carved and stop fluted feet in the front and simple feet in the back for easy placement against any wall. The hardware is gorgeous! The beautiful provençal swagged gilt handles and original ornamentation are a feast for the eyes!
