Key Features This magnificent chest of drawers, dating back to the late 18th century (Louis XVI era), is an example of Italian cabinetmaking that captures the eye with its rich veneers and pure lines. Material and Veneer: Entirely veneered in olive burl, it features an exceptional wavy, flamed grain, with warm tones ranging from honey to deep brown. The burl is arranged in a mirror-like pattern, creating symmetrical and dynamic designs on each drawer front and the side panels. Structure: Rectangular body with three large drawer fronts, offering considerable storage capacity. The sides rest on four slightly tapered truncated pyramid legs (pinned), typical of the Louis XVI style. Inlays and Trim: Each drawer and side panel is framed by a refined double trim in rosewood and boxwood, creating a sharp color contrast and outlining the shapes, adding depth and definition. Top: The upper top is also entirely veneered in burl and features a refined central inlay of a phytomorphic sunburst. Hardware: The contemporary hardware consists of chiseled bronze rosette handles and bronze lock escutcheons. Condition The chest of drawers is in excellent overall condition, consistent with its age.
