Very rare art ceramic figurine around 1929: girl with a wide-brimmed hat on her short curls, sleeveless, short top, wearing long flared trousers and cowboy boots on her feet, standing with her legs apart and her hands on her hips, a long pearl necklace around her neck. On a black, stepped octagonal base, artist's signature 'dakon' on the top, behind the figure. designed by stephan dakon (1904 - 1992), one of the most important designers who worked for the goldscheider manufactory from 1924 until the mid-fifties. Dakon designed model 5875 circa 1929. Made circa 1929 manufactory: goldscheider vienna / austria material & technique: hand-crafted ceramics, white earthenware, hand-painted, glossy finish size: height: 41,5 cm / 16.33 in width: 16,0 cm / 6.29 in depth: 12,0 cm / 4.72 in marks: model number 5875 / 122 / 6 goldscheider wien (vienna) manufactory stamp made in austria / hand-decorated painter's and former's signs existing artist's signature 'dakon' on top of the base behind the figure bibliography: dechant / goldscheider, goldscheider: firmengeschichte und werkverzeichnis / history of the company and catalogue of works, stuttgart (germany), 2007, page 418, number 5875 - other figure: wrong model number or overlap. Condition: very good this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
