German Porcelain Figures By Volkstedt, 1800s, Set Of 2

Chairish

$755

A finely executed pair of German porcelain figures depicting a galant subject. Produced by Älteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik, Triebner, Ens & Co., in the late 19th century, when Volkstedt’s figure production was actively developed for the international export market. The figures reflect Volkstedt’s genre tradition, designed as a true paired composition rather than individual cabinet pieces. The modelling is precise and balanced, with softly modelled faces, carefully rendered drapery and a restrained pastel palette enhanced by discreet gilding. Both figures are raised on rocaille bases with applied floral decoration. The factory underglaze mark, used from approximately 1894, is present on the undersides. Each figure carries the same impressed form number “66”, confirming factory-produced pairing. The combination of scale, paired composition and clean condition makes this an unusually complete example within Volkstedt’s late 19th-century figure production. Dimensions: Female figure: height 26.7 cm, width 13 cm, depth 9.5 cm, weight 545 g Male figure: height 24.3 cm, width 11 cm, depth 9 cm, weight 444 g Condition: Excellent antique condition. UV inspection shows no restorations or concealed damage. There is one small chip to a single applied leaf; otherwise, the figures are very well preserved. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
