Stately, late 19th century, Renaissance Revival style, ornately carved oak fireplace mantel having male and female cherubim terminus form jambs with volutes above and scrolled pedestals with hanging fruit and foliage ornament below. Cherubim figures have beautifully detailed wings, bodies and garments. Double side panels are unadorned. Corner blocks have grotesque masks at front and rinceau carving on side panels. The intricate, arabesque frieze is adorned with additional rinceau carving incorporating eagles displayed, paired rams heads in profile, and mermaid figures flanking a central cartouche. Cornice mantel shelf has ovum and dentil molding. Opening: 51w x 48h.
