Complete with the original handmade scalloped and fringed lampshade, the bulb raised on a wooden faux candle, standing on a plush burgundy velvet column with a tassel braid. Giltwood furniture is an expression of grandeur and luxury, and this floor lamp has it in abundance, with giltwood decoration to the top and base with three beautifully scrolled feet. the period lined shade and crown are covered with floral wine-coloured damask, gold braid and scalloped gold tassels. The elegant lampshade is of beautiful quality, and therefore has stood the test of time. There is evidence of small ribbon tassels on each point, most of which are lost. The inside of the shade has age related marks, which are only noticeable if looking up underneath - otherwise the wear is exactly what you would desire from a boudoir lamp! the wiring has been replaced in recent years, and works perfectly.
