Mid-Century Giraffe Floor Lamp By Ajh, Sweden, 1950s

Chairish

$1,776

A rare and elegant giraffe floor lamp produced by swedish lighting manufacturer ajh during the 1950s. characterised by its tall, slender silhouette and distinctive adjustable brass gooseneck, this lamp exemplifies the refined simplicity of scandinavian modern design. The elongated steel stem rises from a stable two-legged base accented with decorative brass discs, creating a light architectural presence while maintaining excellent stability. the adjustable brass flexi-arm allows the light to be directed precisely where needed, making the lamp equally suitable as a reading lamp beside a chair or sofa, or as an atmospheric accent light within a contemporary interior. The lamp retains its original white bakelite bulb holder and integrated bakelite push switch, details that reinforce its authentic mid-century character. completing the design is a bespoke lampshade handcrafted in shetland wool. The natural texture of the woven wool complements the brass and steel structure beautifully while producing a warm, soft diffusion of light. materials brass flexi-arm steel stem and base original bakelite bulb holder original bakelite push switch bespoke shetland wool shade dimensions height: 140 cm width: 40 cm depth: 33 cm base diameter: 14 cm electrical original switched fitting european plug 220–240v professionally inspected and confirmed in working order condition excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of age and use.
