The upper shrine is crowned with open carved oak Gothic tracery and frames the Crucifixion scene, painted on canvas against a radiant gilt background and surrounded by a floral wreath. The large cabinet features four drawers with ornate hand-carved rosette fronts, flanked by Gothic carved colonettes and retaining their original locks and a key. The projecting kneeler base opens to reveal a lift-top storage compartment. This striking antique Gothic devotional cabinet with religious artwork would be a superb addition to any home, prayer room or chapel. Well built by craftsmen of the period, circa 1880.
