The set was crafted by the renowned manufacturer Österreichische Pressstoff-Möbelgesellschaft and designed by architect Hans Günther Reinstein, a pioneer in utilizing new materials in furniture-making. The armchairs and sofa are remarkable for their cylindrical shapes and the groundbreaking use of corrugated cardboard as a load-bearing structure. This revolutionary approach, first introduced by Reinstein, allowed cardboard to serve not as a cladding material but as a structural element, thanks to its exceptional stability. Reinstein secured what is likely the world’s first patent for cardboard furniture. The initial production series included chairs, sofas, tables, beds, nightstands, and more, blending aesthetics with functionality. The set has been expertly restored with great attention to preserving its authenticity. The newly upholstered seats were crafted based on the original design, and the original lacquer has been revitalized. The oval table that completes this set serves as an elegant and functional centerpiece.
