Curved Onda Black Leather Chair By De Pas, D'urbino & Lomazzi For Zanotta, 1980s

Chairish

$3,288

De Pas, D’Urbino and Lomazzi for Zanotta, curved lounge chair, model 'Onda', matte black leather, high polish chrome, Italy, 1985. Incredibly comfortable. Tubular steel, black leather. Very nice general condition 80s design. Solid and stable. All original condition. While the Onda has become a highly collectible icon in its own right, credit is paid to the giants on which the design was inspired. The chromed tube steel encasing soft leather armchair pays homage to the LC series by Le Corbusier for Cassina, as well as the Wassily chairs by Marcel Breuer for Knoll, among others. These chairs represent a timeless aesthetic that spans from the Bauhaus, to the Mid-Century Modern era, right into Post-Modernism. Provenance: these chairs were in a private house. Very good conditon with only light signs of use, considering age. Because of the soft leather, the chair is highly comfortable to sit in. The leather armchair wrapped in a polished frame contributes to the chair's expressive and vigorous appearance. Jonathan de Pas, Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi are three Milanese designers, born in the 1930s. Around 1960, they started working together. with their designs, they wanted to bring forward a new Italian design, contrasting with the International Style. Their overall concept is to create unconventional designs that uses the pop culture of the 1960s.
