This rare pendant was designed by paavo tynell and produced by idman in finland. Model k3-43, it was introduced in the early 1950s and offered with a range of shade options, including fabric shades and the more rare lamellar wood shades. the fixture features a white opal glass shade in a rounded bell shape, providing soft, pleasant, and diffused light. Resting on the glass is a light brown, coolie-shaped shade made from thin strips of lamellar wood. This shade reflects the refined craftsmanship of idman's production, with delicate wooden slats intricately woven in a louvre-style construction. When lit, the shade creates a beautiful, atmospheric effect. A brass canopy and a decorative crown detail atop the glass shade complete the design. the lamp is in good, original condition. The brass shows a natural patina consistent with age. The current drop-down cable is approximately 120 cm (47 inches) long. The lamp uses a standard e27 bulb. literature: idman catalogue no. 142, 1958, p. 75.
