The outer shell is quilted 255 thread count cotton. The quilting results in a thicker, more cushiony shell, which creates a buffer against the feather, making the quills less noticeable than in a traditional feather pillow. The Soft version is supportive, but flatter, and works for front and back sleepers. The Medium version is relatively full and supportive, and works for all sleeping positions. The Firm version is quite supportive and puffy, so it's best for side sleepers. While feather pillows do have some give, they'll cradle your head more than a sinky, squishy down pillow. Note that King size pillows are more sinky than Standard or Queen, as they are quite long. There's more room for the fill to spread out to the sides when laid on.
