A Spanish hand-carved stone mortar from the 18th century. This antique mortar from Spain, once used to grind various ingredients for cooking or medicinal purposes, is nicely sized standing approximately 21.5" in height. It has a rounded shape with four downward facing spear-shaped handles which adorn the upper exterior rim. This piece is nicely weighted, has a lovely patina and weathered/worn exterior which makes it just that much more charming. This 18th century Spanish stone mortar would make a wonderful stand alone accent piece, or perhaps a great place to hold a potted plant (indoors) or garden planter for outdoor use.
