Antique basin, trough, or drinking trough made of authentic Tosca stone, circa 1850. from the mid-19th century. This is a Spanish basin, hand-carved from a piece of authentic Tosca stone, circa 1930. It served various purposes, such as a stone container, drinking trough, grain mill, or drinking vessel. It has been pressure-cleaned and is in very good condition considering its age and use. It measures 38cm wide x 22cm deep x 15cm high. Approximate weight: 10 kg. Extracted from the Cova Tallada cave in Jávea from Roman times until 1972, Tosca is now a protected and highly prized material. Its extraction is currently prohibited to preserve the geological heritage. Its sale is only legal if it consists of original pieces salvaged from demolition sites for restoration, decoration, or landscaping, as is the case here. The roughly hewn texture and hand-applied patina showcase the natural beauty of the stone. Handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly alike. Use it as a decorative element, a watering trough for animals, or a planter. This rustic, natural-finish antique stone basin is a unique piece.
