This grand terracotta fish pond is cloaked in a beautiful, blue glaze with tonal variation from dark cobalt to pale grey to bright, robin's egg blue. Firing marks add intrigue to the unglazed rim and the interior is finished in a dark brown glaze, loosely splashed for an appealing drip texture. The pot is decorated in low relief with imitation fu-lion handles linked by a knotted rope cord, an unusual design we haven't seen before in our 25 years of collecting. Today, the monumental pot lives on as a statement planter, cachepot or fish pond, ideal indoors or out. Minor losses throughout.
