Pre-1600 "Audience Of The Emperor Humayun" By Dharmadas, 1950 Gold-Leaf Offset Lithograph

$865

Chairish

A magnificent rare gold-leafed offset lithograph, print, of "Audience of the Emperor Humayun". The original painting is a page from a manuscript illuminated for the Emperor Akbar, towards 1600. Several paintings doubtless originating from the same manuscript are to be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. According to a marginal note, this composition is the work of Dharmadas, whilst the portraits of the various person-ages have been painted by a well-known artist, La'al. Comes from a rare first limited and only edition art folio published by Les Editions du Chene in Paris, France in 1950. Printed on one side. Hand tipped on a board of heavy paper. Numbered "I" at the lower right corner of the insert. Gold-leafed and very detailed. Superb quality, rich colors. Excellent condition - minor age wear on edges of the board, never framed. Image 8.60"W x 13.45"H - nearly the size of the original artwork.
