At various auction houses, including Sotheby's London and Lyon & Turnbull Glasgow, the designs for these pieces from the 1920s were assigned to the English architect Oliver Hill (1887 - 1968), who is said to have had such carpets made in Tiensin in North China for Nichols of London.
