Andre Francois Joseph Trupheme, a noted French sculptor, created a bronze of Comte de Mirabeau during his most productive period in the late 1850s. Mirabeau, circa 1749 to 1791, was a key orator and moderate figure in the early French Revolution. Though celebrated at his death and buried in the Pantheon, posthumous revelations of his secret ties to the monarchy damaged his reputation.
