Measurements: man: height: 13 cm; width: 10 cm; depth: 8 cm woman: height: 12.5 cm; width: 11 cm; depth: 8 cm description of the item: a wonderful pair of polychrome glazed stoneware sculptures, entirely decorated by hand and vitrified, depicting a couple, a lady and a dandy, seated in 18th-century venetian clothing, wearing the classic masks used by the nobles of the time to cover their faces during carnival. The objects are signed on the back by the artist, with the incised signature "cacciapuoti," made with a metal nib directly on the ceramic mixture, dating back to the early decades of the 20th century. The sculptures are of the highest artistic quality, especially the faces, which are beautiful, particularly the pose of the two subjects, both with their heads slightly tilted to one side, which echoes the rococo style of the 1700s. The glazes are richly vitrified, of high quality, rich in feldspars that vitrify in a second firing at 1400°. useful information for evaluating the item: our research shows that guido cacciapuoti has achieved significant auction results, with prices ranging from a minimum of €200-300 for the smallest and most common ceramic sculptures to estimates of €2,000-3,000 for the larger and more important ladies. The workshop was immediately successful and became internationally famous, especially for the sculptures created by guido cacciapuoti, who died in 1953 and is now considered one of the most important italian ceramists of the first half of the 20th century.
