Irénée Félix René Rochard was a French animal sculptor known for his highly realistic works and recognized for his numerous awards and prizes. La mouette sur une vague (Seagull on a wave) depicts a palmiped in full flight, gliding while caressing a wave. The set is mounted on a rectangular base of black Mazy marble.
