Large Bronze Buddha head displayed on a wood stand, Circa late 19th Century. Thai Ayutthai U-Thong A style buddha head with the square face and jawline typical of the strong khmer influence of this style of Buddha. Fragmentary head shows wear primarily to the back of the head above the neck where patina is most obvious. Rough neckline at base of bronze, mostly concealed in base, indicating that the head is a fragment from a monumental statue. Lovely, serene piece with commanding presence.
