Beautifully-detailed statue, possibly of the philosopher Socrates, originally designed to sit atop a grand clock. Mid-to-late 19th-century, silver plated bronze. The original lacquer has mellowed, giving the statue a a velvety golden luster. Marble base included (not attached). Statue without base is 9"x6"x12".
