A tabletop sculpture depicting a Buddha hand in a "mudra" or hand position, Indonesia, mid-20th Century. The hand depicts the "Gyan" mudra or position, where the index and thumb fingers unite to form a circle, and symbolizes focus, wisdom and knowledge. The sculpture is hand-carved out of black volcanic basalt rock, and mounted in a made-to-measure black metal stand. 17.5 inches high, 5 inches wide, on a 5" x 4" black metal stand.
