Fresh from a fine Rye New York estate, we have a pleasure to offer you this gorgeous Vintage Slant Front Secretary Desk by Southampton Furniture Company. Towering beauty made in English George III style, featuring two fitted interior parts. Double dome top has two large doors with a lock and key, inside of which are 6 smaller drawer, another double door compartment in the middle, and many mail slots. Below the doors are two pull out candle stick slides. Bottom of the secretary features a traditional form slant front desk. Large lid hides a beautiful fitted interior that matches one on the top, and it also has a pair of slide out "secret compartments" in the form of books (one on each side of the center door). Below the desk part are five more drawers. Two smaller side by side drawers in the top row are flanked with fabric covered slides, which are the support for the lid when it is in use. Below the top row are three large drawers for storage. Each drawers has a pair of great quality English Georgian style bronze / brass Lion Head pulls. It is finished in vivid healthy color burled Walnut wood. Secretary is in good condition, minimal age / use wear (please see photos). Size is large and impressive 87.5" height, 41.5" widest point, 20.5" deep from the wall to the front, and when the desk is open the writing surface is 30" in height and 29" is the knee clearance. This will be a useful beauty in any antique or mid-century modern setting!
