A French side table in the form of a stack of faux leather books on a wooden frame. It is of the Louis Philippe period, circa 1840. The stack of faux books are made of tooled red leather with granite end paper over a fruit wood frame. The top book is hinged and acts as a lid for an interior space which is unfinished. The entire piece is in very good as found condition. There is some minor leather wear at the hinge, and minor cracking of the end paper (see photos). Otherwise there is only minor wear consistent with age and careful use. The frame retains its original finish.
