A curious and refined book-shaped chest, made in Veneto and dating to the late 18th century, in the full Louis XVI style. The piece, compact yet well-proportioned, is crafted entirely from fir wood and features a design that mimics a series of books placed side by side—a typical and highly charming decorative solution, intended to blend discreetly into libraries or studies. The lid, which opens from the top, is covered in leather, while the front is stained to imitate the spines of books, with a pleasing color effect that contributes to the overall illusionistic effect. The dimensions are: height 51.5 cm, width 43.5 cm, depth 33 cm. The piece has a patina and is in the condition in which it was found, with minor conservation work over time, attributable to normal movement of the wood and minimal gluing.
