An excellent quality Renaissance Revival hand carved oak side table. Born in Continental Europe in the late 19th century, (most likely Italian, possibly French), having an inset rectangular rouge incarnat marble top, framed by intricate relief work, rising on exceptionally carved double pedestal supports with scroll flourish, foliate, and shell motif joined by a pair of H stretcher, resting on substantial block feet. Circa 1885 Superb condition, having beautiful patina over the whole, rich, elegantly aged antique oak glow, with warm hues and superb grain patterns. Versatile. Good size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a coffee table, end table, cocktail drinks or wine stand, low console, hall or entry bench, and more.
