A wonderful birch side table from the 1800’s, the top features colorful marquetry & inlay designs of geometric patterns on either side of bird on a branch. The avian scene consists of many types of marble (like a pietra dura composition) complemented by satinwood and ebony. Ebonized banding follows the rectangular outline of the table and offers a sharp contrast to the luminosity of the birch, a theme common of Biedermeier style furnishings as well. Squared and tapered legs trimmed in thin strips of ebonized wood connect to a stretcher shelf ending on brass sabot feet. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain the exciting colors of each material used, this antique is ready for your interior. Please view all the detailed images.
