Late Mahogany Hepplewhite transitional stand circa 1810. The graceful oval top tilts above a spiral pedestal over a tall tripod of highly arched spider legs resting on spade feet. Unique is the drop turning below the intersection of the legs. My best thought so far is it a provincial example, perhaps Nantucket. This piece is really for the lovers of old, old surface, as it has a well crazed dark red-brown finish that reflects its 200 plus years of age in a most gentle style. If you like old surfaces, you'll find this piece to be most desirable.
